KYBanshee Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 What is the diffrents between Boring & Honing, I bought a set of cylinders on ebay. the guy said they where stock bore, but they have been honed. and the stock bore pistons i ordered seem like the don't fit as tight as they shood. Quote
boonman Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 Boring actually removes material from the cylinder. Honing, leaves small grooves in the cylinder called "cross-hatches". These are needed to break in the rings and allow them to seal to the cylinder walls. Honing can also be referred to as very minute "scratches" in a specific pattern on the side of the cylinder...... You should measure the cylinders to see if they are within tolerance and not oblonged...... Quote
