TheNewGuy Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 well dudes, being as im the one who has swapped a 426 engine into a banshee frame FOR MX...the sole reasons are: reliability/powerband of a 4 stroke (stroker 2 stroke engine) better gas mileage dependability no mixing gas plenty of mods ya'll will pretty much bash on me for saying that banshees arent gods and there are much better engines out there for certain jobs...a banshee is pretty much a dune bike IMO...so why use the engine for something you need go lug...the 426 swap really just included the engine (electrical and all), all the things necessary to cool, and some motor mounts... as soon as you have the motor propped in the frame, you can start fabricating mounts and seeing where things need to go p.s. - and yes it did vibrate like a mother f*cker...but performed really well Mike Im pretty sure noone is going to bash you dog. We are just stating how this one kid keeps asking the same thing over and over and over and over. I dont think the Banshee is a god; the only reason I dont own anything else is becuase I will never get back all the money Ive put into it. i understand man, just figured i'd throw that out before someone got real mad at me for just puttin my side of the story, im the reason he was thinkin of doin the swap so if anything people should bash on me lol Mike Quote
erbilabuc Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 I just did a search to all of the posts that he has made about XC racing and look what I came up with. This is way too many posts for the same exact question every time!!!!! This why we think he is annoying as hell http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...topic=21038&hl= http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...topic=19737&hl= http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...ndpost&p=139489 http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...ndpost&p=135730 http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...ndpost&p=129617 http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...ndpost&p=128861 http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...ndpost&p=127948 http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...ndpost&p=121126 Quote
00BANSHEE Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 Point made. I guess I am just looking at it from another perspective. I have a 15 year old son who does nothing but talk about racing because he wants to get started this spring. Lucky for you guys he has a 400ex or he would be on here bugging you as well. Quote
NAXbansheeman11 Posted January 16, 2004 Author Report Posted January 16, 2004 All I wanna know is if it would be a good idea to do a swap. I just want something good for xc thats all Quote
NAXbansheeman11 Posted January 18, 2004 Author Report Posted January 18, 2004 so can any of u guys give me any help on doing this. All I want is ti be redy for xc thats all Quote
boonman Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 Alright, New guy, The reason I stated about WTF is the point of swapping into a shee chassis, wasn't about the motor at all. It was more directed at the fact that the shee chassis isn't a handler on the track, or XC. Now, something along a 250R chassis would be much better suited for this application. Wouldn't it? That's what I was driving at. Why waste the time, when there would be a much better option for it. Find a beat up 250R and grab it. Yank the motor, swap a 426 into it, get some suspension on it, and go ride. You would be much better off than pulling the shee apart and using that chassis. That's my suggestion to you Nax. Once and for all. Get a differetn bike. I have raced my bike on XC, and I don't anymore. It hammers me up too much. i don't feel like spending the money to properly set it up to run competitively. If you are serious, get a different chassis... Quote
NAXbansheeman11 Posted January 19, 2004 Author Report Posted January 19, 2004 I understand what u mean booman but I just spent alot of xc so i really have no choice but to keep it. Would i just be better of find a built banshee motor or buliding mine up? Quote
boonman Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 Get an MX port, and a 2-1 pipe or some PT mids. And make the suspension as best as you can afford. And get a steering damper. Youwill need it. Fatigue loses XC races. Do all you can to eliminate it. Quote
NAXbansheeman11 Posted January 19, 2004 Author Report Posted January 19, 2004 ok i got the stablizer and the shocks I have are white power fully adjustable but i think i may try and find something different and i still need a larger tank and some un cu t plastics and i will be getting the 2into1 pipe to match my 2into1 carb kit.
