john65002
Alright, hope i'm posting this in the right area. So I recently got a 1998 Yamaha banshee. Now, for some reason, my clutch does not work correctly. If its not running, and I put it in gear, pulling the clutch will do nothing. It doesn't seem to disengage. Now if you have it running it is no different, acts like i'm not even pulling the lever(when going into gear) however once I shift into gear, I can slowly let out on clutch lever and it will grab just find. This is what puzzles me. Also if i'm riding and pull in the clutch, it will work just fine. Any help would be appreciated.
john65002
Adjustment seems to be fine, however I haven't ran it in awhile and I noticed that their has been small little dark puddles/lines of oil. Nothing to terribly bad. Dumba** me never thought to check for tranny fluid. I'm guessing thats my problem thinking back to it now. Once i'm at the shop, ill see whats going on. I also would like to ask if Honda GN4 10W40 would get me by? I used it in a TTR125 and it seemed to work just fine.
john65002
We'll when your talking about arrows, I assumed you mean the arrow in engine and arrows on the metal clutch pivot point. Btw all oil is up to spec. Still seems to be doing it. I'm out of cable adjustment so all that's left is the actual clutch adjustment. Looks like I might be putting in a new clutch.
sleeper06
Also don't forget clutch plates do dry out over time, I would take the plates/steels out inspect them , post pics if your unsure. They will also stick if your clutch components are grooved. If everything looks good inside there soak em in tranny fluid and reinstall. I work on many bikes and I will say 9 outta 10 are not set up properly with cable play and inguagment point
satts
Also ,if I pull my clutch inn ,my bike will barely roll when cold however after 5mins riding once she's warm it will push just fine, let it warm up and see how you go
Travis160
Does it pull at all when you kick it with the clutch engaged but in gear.. That will tell you right away if your adjustment is no good and if it is. Your clutch is weak and as stated, start inspecting and replacing
