what is this tube for?

So I'm changing out my stock carbs for mikuni 28mm flat slides. My stock carbs has this tube connecting them. But on My New carbs the place where this tube would go is on the right side of both carbs, so i would have to get a longer tube and go completely around one carb right? What does this tube even do?

Its the choke tube, your new carbs probably have two separate chokes?
