The Coolhead is a good product and will move your powerband down lower, basically the power comes on sooner. A properly milled head does exactly the same thing, only a lot cheaper. You can change out the domes on a Coolhead down the road if you want to, but most people never do. Either way it is about a +2.5 HP mod. Coolhead $250, milled head $35. 2. To adjust the timing you can either modify your stock timing plate, or buy an adjustable plate. I would stay away from degree keys if I were you, many people have had problems with them. Not everybody, but enough to warrant concern. This mod is good for +2.1 HP at +4 degees advance. 3. I don't have an opinion on the tires............. Quote
boonman Posted November 17, 2003 Report Posted November 17, 2003 Coolhead, I agree with BD fully. It depends what you want to do down the road. SOme people just prefer to have the blingin head, and don't care about the cost. Others want the power for cheap. You can get the MAXIMUM amount of power out of a coolhead and CUSTOM domes. But, the custom domes are not cheap, and take some doing to get them made. Myself, I at this moment believe in the milled head. However, I will son be purchasing a cool head to run as I am going to be needing maximum power. I'm gonna be dragging next season. So, I am thinking that different domes will be used in different areas.... (different elevations at different tracks.) The ignition advance, an adjustable plate is always the best, but keys IMHO are fine if installed properly. I am currently running a +4 key, and I have had no problem with it.... And for tires, I ran holeshots, and turf tamers. Overall, I like the tamers better. 20" size for trails and overall use.... Quote
