Young Guns Racing Posted October 23, 2013 Report Posted October 23, 2013 I have a drag race this saturday and while I was tuning up my banshee all hell broke loose last night. My lightened flywheel cracked, came apart and toasted my stator....with that known, I snagged a flywheel and stator asap and replaced them....Now I am down to an intermittent / random spark. The signal to the coil only comes in once or twice when I kick the bike - instead of consistantly throwing a signal. I encountered this once before and found the key switch at fault. This is what I have tried so far.... I have replaced a stator, flywheel. Next I replaced and cut a spare wiring harness to a "race harness" leaving only the lights to be controlled by the handle switch....a pull tether is my kill switch now, no key. Ive tried a new CDI, still no difference... what the hell could be causing this horrible signal from my orange ignition wire? I really need advice on this one. Im pulling out my hair Quote
Hazzard Racing Customs Posted October 23, 2013 Report Posted October 23, 2013 are u sure there is nothing wrong with the new fly wheel or stator no rattle noise in the flywheel or rust on the pickups is the stator a OEM? Quote
Young Guns Racing Posted October 23, 2013 Author Report Posted October 23, 2013 Stator is oem. I just checked the flywheel like u said to do. It didn't look quite right so may have been aftermarket or something like that...I swapped a buddys flywheel over and boom. She got good signal. So I hooked up my coil and started.first kick. Now I need a flywheel by saturday! Thanks for chiming in bud. I appreciate.the fast advice. I was very frustrated and being pressed for time I lost my cool and needed some help Quote
Hazzard Racing Customs Posted October 23, 2013 Report Posted October 23, 2013 for sure man thats why were on here right to help each other out glad you figured it out wish i still had a good flywheel to ship to ya but i just sold the last good one i had good luck finding it Quote
Starwriter Posted October 23, 2013 Report Posted October 23, 2013 Did you check the pickup coil gap on the flywheel that didn't work? Maybe the gap was too wide. Quote
