What causes the mid range "gargle"?

I'm talking about when it loads up in the mid range when lugging around? Is that a needle issue?

That would be a needle issue. I never tried to tune that out. I just down shift and get it on the pipe every once In a while running at part throttle. Or clutch it and a wot burst to clean it out. Mine is stock carbs though.
