To do or not to do? I know its plastic but it would be cheaper to replace the stk gear than a billet gear and shaft if a problem would occur right?

If you want to NEVER HAVE A PUMP FAILURE, get the billet impeller and metal gear. The stock plastic gear is just held with a pin. If anything wants to lock up....that plastic gear fails and your done. That Mull metal gear upgrades the last weak link in the system.

After you have all the right parts, the only thing you will be replacing in the future will be shaft seals and thoses last a long time. No drop in durability with billet.
