FL_shee_rider Posted October 8, 2012 Report Posted October 8, 2012 (edited) Hello friends! Just got my first banshee and i spend so much time reading the forums here so i decided to make an account. Its a 94 shee i bought for $900 with a blown piston(you guys think this was a good deal?), so i am currently doing a top end rebuild. I am very able when it comes to mechanics seeing as i am constantly working on cars and bikes (mainly gsxr sorry guys), so i am doing all the work myself. I dont know if motor had ever been opened, but it had the OEM pistons. One of the rings on the left piston had melted with it and made a little scratch on the cylinder, so i am taking them to the shop tomorrow to get bored +.010. Got a top end rebuild kit from wiseco and cometic gasket kit coming in the mail some time this week. Previous owner told me he put new reeds in(dont know the brand) and new flaps(is that what they are called?) on the carbs. It also has a boost bottle that i will be replacing with the OEM cross over. From what ive read it makes the engine run too lean. Im a little new to carbs, so i need some help jetting it. I currently live in Florida where its pretty hot all year and the altitude is 16ft(does this sound right?). With the information i listed here, what jets do you guys recommend? Also i will be replacing the TORS with the eliminator kit. Btw, my suspension is OEM. I ride mostly in trails. Do you guys recommend any upgrades for it? Thank you guys for your time. FL_shee_rider Posted October 8, 2012 Author Report Posted October 8, 2012 Come on guys, no help??? Quote
Dahl87banshee Posted October 8, 2012 Report Posted October 8, 2012 Call Jeff at fast. He was awesome helping me with jetting. I have alba +2+1 arms and fox long travel shocks. Best purchase besides porting. Tip for next time though, there's a jetting thread that people list mods and carbs and jets and stuff, I'm positive you could find your set up in there. Good luck with the shee and I'm sure you will have a blast with it. If its in good shape, $900 isn't too bad for just needing a topend. I'd have the crank trued and welded though too. Then you have no worries. Quote
