kchubb-banshee350 Posted July 29, 2012 Report Posted July 29, 2012 Hey guys i just traded my cr250 for a 2003 banshee 350. The guy told me that he bent the lever for the shifter and that it was hard to shift. He said it was a fair trade off since he had to buy a new pipe for the cr250. well after the guy leaves i go take it out and the shifting is horriable i cant shift into any gears but 2nd and 3rd and even those were hard to shift between . when you press on the shifter it feels like it is rock solid stuck. I thought it might be a bent shifter shaft. some friends say it could be a clutch issue. If it was the clutch would it not not idle with the clutch in?? and if its the shifter shaft would you be able to tell from just taking the outter case off ?? Please help and dont tell me i have to split the case Quote

#1JUANstunna Posted July 29, 2012 Report Posted July 29, 2012 Change the oil and see if there is any metal in the oil. I'd pull the clutch cover and make sure the screw in between the shifter is centered. I can't think of the name of it off top of my head. Once the cover is off you can pull the shift shaft out and check it. Otherwise its probably been abused and needs shift folks. BTW is this a big HP motor or just close to stock? Quote

I drained the oil and there was very little shavings in the oil. what screw is that?? what is the best way to get the bolt off the clutch?? and if it is the shift forks i have to crack the case right ? i think it is pretty close to stock. it has some new reeds on it and a set of of bills dual pipes but that is the most that was done to it.
