falcon gt351 Posted July 25, 2012 Report Posted July 25, 2012 im new to this but was wondering how much work can you do to the banshee before you need to have the crank trued and welded Quote
rubberneck Posted July 25, 2012 Report Posted July 25, 2012 for the most part guys will tell you bolt ons, and maybe moderate increase in compression, my opinion is none. I would weld the crank on a bone stock bike. I have had a couple on very lightly modded bikes come apart and ruin a trip. its not that much work to split the cases for the piece of mind, and a great opportunity to modify some other parts while you are at it. dirtydownunder Posted July 25, 2012 Report Posted July 25, 2012 ^^ yep !. my stock port 350, with pipes and a few degree ignition advance, had started to untrue the crank. i found that out when i sent it out to true and weld after a port job. Quote
FASTOYS Posted July 25, 2012 Report Posted July 25, 2012 We have seen bone stock bikes come in the shop with cranks coming apart.... So it is a definite problem that needs attention, and whenever you build more hp it can increase your chances of it coming apart... Quote
bansheesandrider Posted July 25, 2012 Report Posted July 25, 2012 The crank in my 1989 model that I bought brand new came apart and blew up when the bike was 1.5 years old. The only thing that was done to it was a set of pipes and it had paddles on it. Since then, every Banshee I have gets the crank welded before I do anything else. Quote
