Pball02 Posted June 22, 2012 Report Posted June 22, 2012 So we were at the dunes this last weekend. Step run riding banshee all of a sudden it died. He went to kick it and kick start would only move about 3 inchs then stop. This is our first banshee so didnt know what was wrong so we just towed it back to camp. Pulled spark plug and the ugly silver stuff all over it I didn't want to see. It rolls in nutrel. Got it home took top end off it's not as bad as I thought. On right side( throttle side) half the upper ring is gone. That's a little history of it. Now my question. I took clutch cover off. On the kick start pole that holds the gear and all that stuff there is something that looks like a white bushing. With the cover off should that move? It slides on the pole. Is it held on by cover? Or am I missing something? Quote

Or am I missing something? The white thing is the kick idler bushing I think, anyhow it does move but wen put on make sure it's seated back in the grooves and it sets in. As far as the top end, you shud bore, hone, new pistons, gaskets.(top end kit) depending on the current bore size if cylinder. And Make sure u got no play in those rods on your crank, and that there not bent. Quote
Pball02 Posted June 22, 2012 Author Report Posted June 22, 2012 Ok well kick start is stuck still bike will roll in nutrel. What else can I check to see why it's stuck with out splitting cases? Quote
Zwiser Posted June 22, 2012 Report Posted June 22, 2012 The white "bushing" is just a spacer so that the assembly does not rub together, Also you should see a tab coming off the spring and you have to line that up into the notch in the crankcase to reinstall, I would recommend that you pick yourself up a clymers manual. Also measure the bore in a crisscross pattern with a bore gauge or calipers top and bottom and subtract the differences and match them up with the specs in the manual. If there aren't any scratches on the cylinder wall deeper than .1-.4 mm and your bore size is within spec I would just do a light hone to deglaze and clean up a little. then if your pistons aren't damaged just re ring it. And your kicker might just be bound up on something make sure you install it correctly and see if it still stuck Quote
Pball02 Posted June 22, 2012 Author Report Posted June 22, 2012 Found the problem the piston skirt on right side blew up and fell in bottom end. So know I guess can get that apart and check crank and everything out and replace and worn parts. Quote
