BadLarry08 Posted March 2, 2012 Report Posted March 2, 2012 Wondering if Hiper Tech 3s can bend? I got quite a scare tonight, I walked by my bike when it was up on the stand and just spun the tire, it had a pretty bad woble in it. So I switched with the opposite side wheel, same thing. I put a stock wheel and tire on it and got nothing. I've never ran these wheels I bought them used this winter. Just hoping and praying its something else and not bent wheels, maybe the beadlock bolts aren't torqued right? Idk I'm freaking out!! Can these bend or would they just crack? Quote
asian_invasion Posted March 2, 2012 Report Posted March 2, 2012 They shoudn't they should crack before bending you would think... I would pull the tire and re-set it and then check..... Hiper has a bad-ass warranty... Quote

If they are the model that has the metal center section....then yes, they can bend. (It would have taken one hell of a jump to bend the center section.) If the rims have taken a big hit, try disassembling them completely. Then put each of the carbon sections in the freezer. This causes the molecules to somehow realign back as they were formed. (This worked wonders on the old BMX "Z-rims".) Then reassemble the sections, torquing everything evenly and try spinning them again. Or option B - Call hyper. Quote
BadLarry08 Posted March 3, 2012 Author Report Posted March 3, 2012 Do you think Hiper will warranty them even though I didn't buy them new? Or cause the damage to them? Quote
DallasGDub Posted March 3, 2012 Report Posted March 3, 2012 If the center part is bent, you can also just buy a new center for it from Hiper. Same goes for each side of the rim, you can buy all the pieces separately. Quote
