It was up against the exhaust. Bike shut down to one cylinder, let out a huge back fire then that was that. So I'm getting a new harness, but it won't do me any good if I fried anything. So I just wanna know it any one else went through this and fried something else.

same thing happened to me but i seen it in time.. lucky i had plastic tubing stuff you get at auto parts store around my wire harness, didnt melt my harness just the plastic. i zip tie it to the cross over tube now. sorry to hear about your luck though, buy another off ebay or post in the wanted.

See if you can pull all the wires apart that are melted if there not completely broken in two. Make sure nothing is touching and tape them up and check for spark. If you have spark than get a new harness and tie it up.

I'm getting a used one for cheap. I still got spark. I'm not sure if is strong enough. The melted wires might have to much resistance. I'll keep updating. Good thing I have Thursdays off

Do you still have spark? Anyone with a banshee that lives close that you can swap electrical parts? Didn't you say it back fired? Maybe check your reeds and make sure it didn't break a reed when it backfired.

We had the same thing happen to 2 of my buddies bikes one weekend at the coast. As Yamahaman said I am sure your reed is broke and once you fix that and the wires it should fire right up no problem.
