escobar Posted November 20, 2011 Report Posted November 20, 2011 (edited) hey guys, pulled the crank cover off and noticed this hose wasnt connected to anything. I was wondering if this is normal or where it may attach to? Its a 99 banshee. thanks Edited November 20, 2011 by escobar Quote
dirtydownunder Posted November 20, 2011 Report Posted November 20, 2011 it runs to the back of the engine to a t-piece, and joins to the barb at the rear of the engine (under the mount) then the 3rd T goes up to, infront of the fuel tank as a vent. some after market covers have this blocked anyway. Starwriter Posted November 20, 2011 Report Posted November 20, 2011 While you have the cover off, pound the vent out. Pound it towards the inside. Throw it away. Block off the hole with this. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Banshee-Clutch-Cover-Vent-Block-off-Plate-/110747369144?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item19c90ebeb8 Cap off the open spout on the tee near the carbs or replace the hose with a new longer hose and eliminate the tee. You only need the rear transmission vent. One less hose to clutter things up. Quote
escobar Posted November 21, 2011 Author Report Posted November 21, 2011 ok, thanks guys. It looks like it has been broke and like this for a while. Ill order that block off plate and put it on, then I can just eliminate the hose all together right? Quote
dirtydownunder Posted November 21, 2011 Report Posted November 21, 2011 that hose yes, but you still need the hose that goes from the barb under the rear engine mount, to go somewhere, where its not gonna get wet or dirty. as a vent. Quote
escobar Posted November 21, 2011 Author Report Posted November 21, 2011 ok, I will look for it and make sure its ok. Thanks for the help. Quote
Starwriter Posted November 21, 2011 Report Posted November 21, 2011 (edited) Also on mine, I stuck a stainless allen bolt through the hole in the cover where the vent hose used to exit near the water pump and put a nut on the inside with loctite. I forgot to do it before I put the cover on, but I was able to put it in afterwards. I didn't want the area behind the water pump cover filling up with sand.
