Good evening fellow Shee folks. New member here.. been reading a while but just now posting. I have read through quite a few posts. But have been unable to find something similar to the situation I am dealing with. I purchased a completely unmolested :) 1990 Banshee back in May/June.. Had my friend pick it up for me and put it in my garage since I am deployed to Iraq right now. While back on midtour leave in July I took the bike out a few times after checking it out prior to.

After the second ride I noticed a rattling noise coming from behind the clutch cover while at idle. Once the clutch was pulled in the rattle would stop. And once released it would start again. (did not hear the noise coming from the cylinders) Prior to tearing the clutch cover off I am curious as to what everyone thinks the issue might be? I changed out the oil prior to the second ride, no issues with the level. Checked before, during and after.

It has been about 19yrs since I have tinkered with the two strokes. Pretty much since I joined the Army I havent had a bike and just recently got back into it. Have had a couple bikes back in the day, but it has been quite some time.

I am not due back until sometime this fall, right now I just have the bike sitting in the garage. The bike rides fine and runs good.. that rattle has me concerned tho. Thanks for any assistance everyone!

Outstanding. Thanks for the help. Will be the #1 thing I look at when I return. How much did the gear cost if you dont mind me asking? Thanks again

i believe fast has the gear, or bushing for under $30, but can't remember price at all. doesn't sound like it, if it changes with the clutch. i would look at the clutch. could be a hub bushing or something

Thanks everyone, I will check out both when I get home. Had a little bit of time on my hands the other day so I figured would ask the subject matter experts! Seems to be ALOT of knowledge on the site. Thats a good thing. Thanks again an 4mil, its my job brother, I have been doing it 19yrs now. I dont know anything but the Army, came in when I was 17yrs old. Seems like ages ago!
