zekibanshee Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 What is the diference in using diferent sprocket numbers with the same ratio. Right now I'm using 15-41 but would like to try 16-43 is almost the ratio but bigger sprocket would there be any diference in motor output. I heard that it will put more stress on the motor . Please opinions please Quote
700vflash Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 Bigger front sprocket will give you more top end and less acceleration, while a bigger rear sprocket will give you more acceleration and less top end. I have just recently started playing with the gearing, I say try it if you have the $$ and time, but you may need a bigger chain. I don't know about the stress factor, don't really see how it would be a bad thng. Quote
zekibanshee Posted April 4, 2011 Author Report Posted April 4, 2011 16-43 gives a final drive of 2.6875 15-41 gives a final drive of 2.7333 so the 16-43 will give more speed. alos the 16-43 will have less stress on the chain. really dont think it will put more stress on the engine. sorry made mistake Im runing 15-40 right now so the ratio is 2.666666 Quote
