BigAnt215 Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 I can't seem to get the bolt out that's on the top part of the rear shock that connects to frame. I tried sprayin it wit WD40 and hammering it...my freaking hammer broke. Got a bigger one and it's still not budging. Quote

Did you pop the bottom bolt off the dog bone yet? It's going to be hard to get that bolt out if the suspension is under load so try putting a bucket under the bike so there is no load on the suspension. Quote

Coupelx Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 if its never been out then there is a good chance it is seized in the sleeve. i just went though this on an engine mount bolt. you can carefully cut the bolt apart and remove the shock and then drill it out or just centerpunch and drill it while its in the frame if there is room. the bolts are suprisingly soft. just use a sharp bit. The prob is the rubber bushing. It absorbs the shock of the hammer. Try to apply torque while tapping (Ok, pounding) the threaded end while repeatedly spraying with WD40. If that doesn't work cut hat bitch out of there. Quote

If that doesn't work cut hat bitch out of there. the problem with pounding on it more is you run the risk of screwing more stuff up and twisting it makes it worse. i had to replace one of my engine mount bushings because i got a bit too carried away. wd40 is also a horrible penetrant. it is a water displacer. nothing else.
