lastnline75 Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 start by soaking them in some good penetrating oil and then go to the hardware store and get a drill bitt to drill a small pilot hole and get a screw or bolt extractor also from the hardware store. the extractor should be able to get them out. just be slow and easy with them. hope this helps. Coupelx Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 you are talking like you turn the bolt but nothing happens. it just spins? get a pair of vice grips and pull on it while you turn it. worse case you have to cut the head off and punch it out/ Quote
bigblockbanshee Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 (edited) Sounds like the inserts in the gas tank are turning in their holes if that's what you're talking about. IMO I'd grind the head off of the bolt so you can get the plastics off at least and start looking for another tank. This is one of those pieces that you'd rather undertighten than overtighten just for the possibility of breaking loose the inserts. Again, just my 2 cents.
