Ok, I have a 4 mill mx ported stock cylinder with 68mm bore, 34mm PJ's,21cc domes,165psi, large single k@n, +4 timing, pc's, running 100ll, 1200ft, about 20 degrees. Been having problems with this for a while and just cant get it figured out. I have tried every jet from 145-165 through a wide range of temperatures with no real noticeable change so I thought it was an electrical issue. Yesterday I said fuck it and replaced everything, stator, coil, cdi box, plugs, and even the flywheel with known good ones. Took it for a ride and no difference at all so it's back to the jetting. Right now it's got 165 mains, 48 pilots, and cel needles on the 4th clip (needles raised one position from middle). Doesn't idle too bad but it's got a nasty bog right off idle and doesnt seem to rev out up top near as far as I think it should. I cant seem to get a good reading off the plus either, they are just a very light yellow with maybe light smoke ring. Could I still be that lean? I have no air leaks at all. It also has a weird sound to it, the only way I can describe it is it sounds like the pipes are choking it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I made a video with my helmet cam to attach to this post so you could listen to it but i cant get it to upload on photobucket or youtube.

Here is something to think about unless something is broke inside the carbs, you have 3 sections that make your carbs run. You may already know this.

1. Pilot section is the idle section - Good pilot good Idle if its starving it will not burn clean it will be grumpy

2. Needle jet-Jet needle -acceleration to top end. Not knowing your bike, it sounds like its starving for fuel at this point

3. Main jet - Balls out

My opinion Drop the clip on the jet needles to the bottum Test it Sounds alittle better -next step bigger needle jet

give it fuel to burn. Good luck
