Braap_a_Banshee Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 i just finished a run at the drags. and this was after a leisurely ride through the dunes. i was turning around and going to line back up at the start. i was riding slowly in 2nd gear and the quad bogged down and died. it would not start. i noticed that the piston in the left cylinder was the problem, but i dunno whats wrong with it yet. its almost like the piston isnt moving everytime i kick it. of course i will be taking it back apart to see what the issue is sometime this week, but what should i be looking for? Snopczynski Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 Is there compression in the questionable cylinder? Quote
Braap_a_Banshee Posted October 20, 2010 Author Report Posted October 20, 2010 i havent checked. ill have more information the situation later this week Quote
bansheesrtoys Posted October 21, 2010 Report Posted October 21, 2010 if the piston isn't moving with the rod then it sounds like you blew a rod bearing either top or bottom. been their it sucks. Quote
Braap_a_Banshee Posted October 21, 2010 Author Report Posted October 21, 2010 there is 0 compression in the left cylinder Quote
Braap_a_Banshee Posted October 21, 2010 Author Report Posted October 21, 2010 so far i have the head off and the intake off. there is a very slight dent in the top of the piston on the left cylinder. it is tiny. would that affect it? Quote
bansheesrtoys Posted October 21, 2010 Report Posted October 21, 2010 no. is the piston moving up and down with the kick starter beeing kicked. pull off the left jug and check your lower rod bearings. when my lower bearing went out it got shot out the exhaust and chewed up my domes on the way out. but i was reving really hi , yours prob just started to go and since you weren't reving that hi that why not that much damange done . Braap_a_Banshee Posted October 21, 2010 Author Report Posted October 21, 2010 the piston is moving but i can hear something sort of grinding below it. i am going to pull the cylinder off today Quote
