ruonedge Posted October 9, 2010 Report Posted October 9, 2010 I forgot to tighten my spark plugs and one of them shot out of the top when I was playin in the desert. I cleaned and tightened everything down and continued on my way but after about an hour the motor started sputtering and became hard to start. Took it home I just took the top off and notice the dome has pits and the and the cylinder wall is scored, and piston is warped near the scored wall and pitted in the center. F&*@! me! Can anyone tell me if that alone would have caused so many probs? Heads were dune ported, +4 timing, 65.25 pistons. I'm ready to be made fun of but I could use some help to go with it. Quote

donkeypuncher Posted October 9, 2010 Report Posted October 9, 2010 detonation is what backed your spark plug out. too much timing, or not enough octane. if he didnt tighten them down like he said, then vibration could have easily backed them out. i doubt he has too much timing at +4. Quote
ruonedge Posted October 9, 2010 Author Report Posted October 9, 2010 I run 91 pump gas. Can those be bored out any further? Whats the max I can go? Quote
Phelps Posted October 9, 2010 Report Posted October 9, 2010 if he didnt tighten them down like he said, then vibration could have easily backed them out. i doubt he has too much timing at +4. +4 timing 91 octane and tons of heat can easily cause detonation. Quote
ruonedge Posted October 9, 2010 Author Report Posted October 9, 2010 Does anyone know a good place in az to get work done? Quote
Josh Z Posted October 9, 2010 Report Posted October 9, 2010 Does anyone know a good place in az to get work done? What part of AZ? if you are very close to Utah I know a couple decent places here. Quote
AKheathen Posted October 9, 2010 Report Posted October 9, 2010 well, i'm sure it was definately detonation that occured. it could be the heat, jetting, or compression that caused it. you can go as high as 66.5mm on the bore. check you the site sponsors for reliable work.... Quote
ruonedge Posted October 9, 2010 Author Report Posted October 9, 2010 SO I got them apart and they were both bad the rings on the not so bad side were stuck and do not freely move. It has also been sleeved which I was not aware of when I bought. Feeling like I got screwed. I am headed back to the place I bought this to see what he thinks. Only rode it three times... http://s1106.photobucket.com/albums/h369/ruonedge/?action=view¤t=IMG_4460.jpg http://s1106.photobucket.com/albums/h369/ruonedge/?action=view¤t=IMG_4463.jpg http://s1106.photobucket.com/albums/h369/ruonedge/?action=view¤t=IMG_4462.jpg Quote

I'll second the lack of lubrication, after seeing pics.. Also, I think your problem might also have something to do with that wrench in the bottom of your cylinder. Quote
AKheathen Posted October 9, 2010 Report Posted October 9, 2010 i'm goin with improper clearance and/or heat/lean Quote
