theoriginal87 Posted August 29, 2010 Report Posted August 29, 2010 ok so my banshee has started smoking out the right side pretty bad recently and the smokes a blueish color and the silencer has oill on it so im pretty sure its the crank seal..... but the thing is i just recently had the bike all in peices and really would hate to have to split the cases to replace that one little seal Although i have heard from a few people that you can remove the old one by basically destroying it and replacing it with a different seal without the lip on it so u dont have to split the cases?? so im just wondering if anybody has done or heard of anything like this??? SAVAGE420 Posted August 29, 2010 Report Posted August 29, 2010 You can do the mag side without splitting if your in a bind and want to ride on a trip away from home. Then split it and do it properly when you get home. The other side you can not do without splitting. So go do a leak down and confirm that it is in fact leaking and take the very little time it takes to split the case and get it done. I don't know why people worry or think its a big job when its totally not, all you need are simple hand tools and an hour or two. Basically a 12mm wrench, a flywheel puller, 32mm socket a couple more sockets and thats it and have at it! If you start right now you will be done before dinner time. For sure replace both crank seals though when you take apart, and the other ones if you want also if they have not been replaced in a while. So easy a cave man can do it. No lie! Quote
theoriginal87 Posted August 29, 2010 Author Report Posted August 29, 2010 Thanks i was wondering if a leakdown would tell me if it was bad so ill go do that tonight and see what the deal is. But is there anything else that could be causing it to smoke so much out the right pipe if it happens to not be the crank seal?? Quote
