shees4life Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 I have a 2003 shee that i just purchased and noticed the head studs are abnormally long. To the point they have 2 nuts on them. Is this a thing many banshee owners do? Perhaps to prevent them from backing out under the intense vibrations? Idk I have now had 5 shees and this is the first time i have seen anything like this on one. Quote
mia-shee Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 (edited) They are most likely pro design studs. What kind of head is on it now? Edited August 18, 2010 by mia-shee Quote
shees4life Posted August 18, 2010 Author Report Posted August 18, 2010 umm i am honestly not sure..I literally just got this thing. All i know is it is bored .020 over. Why would they be so long? Quote
So Cal Suspension Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 umm i am honestly not sure..I literally just got this thing. All i know is it is bored .020 over. Why would they be so long? Aftermarket cool heads use longer studs. Odds are the previous owner had a Cool Head on the bike, and put the stock one back without changing the studs back before he sold it to you. Take a pic of the head if you can, and that would give us more to work with. Quote
shees4life Posted August 18, 2010 Author Report Posted August 18, 2010 gotch that makes total sense. I will take some pictures. Appreciate it fellas Quote
AKheathen Posted August 20, 2010 Report Posted August 20, 2010 oh, and the head nuts will come loose. however, you just retorque them after a few heat cycles and they won't. and, double nutting, or loctite will only keep them from rattling off, but the gasket can still leak if not retorqued. Quote
