oldfatman Posted August 12, 2010 Report Posted August 12, 2010 I've got a 87 shee, finally put on +4 swingarm and 2+1 j-arms with works shocks. Now I want to replace the 2 into 1 carb stage 4 and the stage 4 pipes also. Engine only has v force 3 reeds. My question since you guys know from hands on knowledge what works and what doesn't. I want to buy toomey t-5, dune port, and 28-34 carbs. I'm I going in the right direction, something I missed? Love the dunes with some racing. Thanks. Quote

moneybags Posted August 12, 2010 Report Posted August 12, 2010 keep the pipes you have for now. Work on getting rid of that 2 into 1 carb set up. Once you have the right carbs, get them cylinders ported, timing plate, and up the compression. Quote

Are the pipes really a big factor? Would stock carbs taper out to 29.5 work for me? How do I up the compression.Thanks. Quote
moneybags Posted August 13, 2010 Report Posted August 13, 2010 The pipes you have now are fine. I would not worry about the pipes for now. I would not suggest buying or even using the bored out stock carbs your talking about. I would look for a set of 33 PWK's. There are 2 ways you can up the compression. First is to have your stock head shaved down some depending on your elevation. Second is to buy a aftermarket Noss head or Chariot head. Having the stock head shaved will be cheeper. The good thing about going with a aftermarket head is that it will help your motor run cooler. It also gives you the abilty to chang domes, and what not. plus the look cool as shit. Both are site sponcers aswell. Quote
