shanYE west Posted July 5, 2010 Report Posted July 5, 2010 what engine? what carbs? whats current jetting? whats plug gap? Has it been leak tested? Quote
Phelps Posted July 5, 2010 Author Report Posted July 5, 2010 stock engine, vf3 reeds, ftz 35.5 mikuni's, 112 dumps needle all the way up, powerjets 6 turns out. plugs are at .19, no leak test. left cylinder is 155, right is 160lbs. all new gaskets, reeds and intake with built in crossover. right side is pouring alky/oil all over the silencer, pulls hard sometimes, sometimes it bogs. it lean hangs when i just cruise at a steady speed then back out. like the right side is a whole jet/dumptube size bigger. idles perfect. just changed plugs, cut back coil wires, clean on/off switch, sanded the paint off of the coil mounting surface, and tightened up the coil connectors with no change. bike ran fine at idle and WOT with the old 114's in just had no mid due to richness. needle was all the way down and powerjets were all the way in. Phelps Posted July 6, 2010 Author Report Posted July 6, 2010 took the bowls off and noticed one float was sitting horizontal to the carb bowl surface and the other was at a 22 degree angle to the surface. i have never touched the arms since buying these carbs. it looked far enough out of wack that there would never be more than maybe a 1/16-1/8 in of fuel in the bowl and to make matters worse the carbs have to be at a angle due to the inframes hitting the slide housings.
