Hi, I got a 2000 banshee on a trade and i would like to keep it and fix it up but i have a few questions. It will crank but leaks oil pretty bad on the left side on motor. Also it has some damage to the case where you can tell the chain came off. The suspension seems ok . It has a boost bottle fmf pipes toomy silencers ans susposedly a stroker crank. i stood it up on the rear grab bar to inspect under it and oil started pouring out. So my question is : should i try to fix it and keep it as my quad or just sell it for parts as is? Also if I was to keep it how expensive could it get to fix the motor. thanks guys first post!

keep the bike and fix it . could either be tranmission seal wich you dont have to spit the case to change. but it could be the seal behind the stator which you have to split the case to change.. but it not that hard of job.

Welcome to Bhq. this is the best site for anything banshee related.. and somethings that arent. and have fun with you new project.

Keep it, you can get a set of used cases pretty cheap. If you find a set of cases order a seal kit for it. Invest in a clymers manual it will tell you what you need to know. Do a compresion test to see what kind of shape the topend is in.

Welcome to BHQ!!

Fix it urself. I didn't know anything about rebuilding one until i started tearin it apart. check out my thread called "build is complete" if i can u can. only limit is money, it can get expensive.

i started with the motor. from the sounds of it, u have some motor issues. i would start with the motor. 4 bolts hold the motor in. if u have questioins, just start a thread on here and u'll have answers in no time. just take ur time and dont get in a hurry.
