HOODWORKZ Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 I have a set of 34mm pjs with intakes just sitting on my table..and I want to know if it would benefit me to put them on my bike with no porting and the proper jetting.. my mods right now are shaved head .030,vforce3,+4 timing,t5 pipes,pods,..would I gain or lose any power from running these..and if so what jetting should I start with? 06specialedition Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 I've been doing alot of research on the whole "bigger carbs" mod. After talking to ALOT of people about performance mods and best bang for the buck, I've decided to wait on getting new carbs and spend my money on a good port job and crank true&weld. Alot of people on here have ported motors with stock carbs and they run awesome! From what people are telling me stock carbs are good too about 65hp, and they will run just fine with a ported motor. Call and talk to a site sponsor like Brandon from WILDCARD, Jeff from FAST, or Kevin from HJR. I dont think either one of them would steer you the wrong way. Quote
HOODWORKZ Posted December 23, 2009 Author Report Posted December 23, 2009 I have a set of ported cylinders I'm just waiting for $$ to do a 4mm..and I bought these carbs a while back so I'm wondering would they do me any good putting them on now Quote
fastbanshee8 Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 Wait until you get the $$ to put the 4mil together, with the porting for it, before using the 34's. I'm using a set of 34mm Mikuni's on a stock cylinder 4mil, with inframe CPI's, along some other mods, and the carbs are more than adequate for my set up. They would be over kill on your set up, and it would probably run worse than it does on the stockers. Quote

spooled Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 I have to disagree. My experience is with a very similar list of mods. T5's, stock stroke and port. +4, vf3's, 21cc domes, etc and going from stock carbs to 34 PJ's was a huge improvement. Not much loss on bottom end but pulled much harder up top. You always hear people talk bad about 34PJ's for stockish bikes but I love them. Tad tricky to get to idle perfect but no big deal if you know what your doing jetting carbs. And cheap! 250r factory carbs. I'd throw them on, can't hurt...if you don't like them go back to the mikuni's. Quote
shanYE west Posted December 24, 2009 Report Posted December 24, 2009 I'd look into 28pwk's A better all around carb. I use the 28's on everything other then drag builds. They work great on the stock ports too. Can be had just as cheap as the PJ's... Just need to know where to find them. They were the stock carb on some of the 80 and 85cc dirt bikes. Quote

spooled Posted December 25, 2009 Report Posted December 25, 2009 That was on a shee I had about 4-5 years ago...don't really remember any sizes. Quote
ELKARACING_SHEE Posted December 25, 2009 Report Posted December 25, 2009 How do you have your pjs jetted right now...im at sea level and ride mostly glamis i think you could do better with smaller carbs, i mean with the bigger ones, your feeding it more juice, i think you should be good with some 28's, even with the 2 in 1 set up , if you like it Quote
HOODWORKZ Posted December 28, 2009 Author Report Posted December 28, 2009 I understand how stock carbs are sufficent for motors that arent really high hp..but would it benefit me to run these seeing as the slide design is better than the stock carbs are is it still overkill for a non ported motor..builders please chime in on this Thanks Quote

spooled Posted December 28, 2009 Report Posted December 28, 2009 Put them on! Jet the correctly and you won't be dissapointed. Or I'll trade you my 28/29mm sudco pwk's for them depending on what exactly you have. Quote
