can putting a high wieght gear oil in your gear case cause the clutch to stick together because my friend put a 75w-90 gear oil in his shee just to see if it would run after putting a new clutch kit in and the clutch seems to stick when in gear if you kick it over the bike will roll forward and also it was about 50 something outside so i was thinking that the oil was to high of a wieght making the clutch stick.... everything was torqued to spec with a clymers manual and clutch was also adjusted with 10-15mm of free play in the clutch handle.... so im thinking its just the oil he put in ..... what do u guys think?????

Did he soak the clutch plates in oil, before installing them? You're supposed to use the recommended gear oil, or ATF. I would think that too heavy of a oil would cause some problems.

we had another bike that had a new barnett clutch kit in it so we robbed that from the dead bike and put it on his. the other bike had oil in it had not beeen sitting for very long so we didnt have to soak the plates... the clutch seeemed to be working fine when we first got it all together but it was when we had kicked it over and moved the bike around abit that it stopped working. so i just drained his oil and kicked it abit and it seems that the clutch is working but it has lot of resistance, for example when i dont hold the clutch and push down on the kick the bike will roll forward the more i push on the kick. but when i hold in the clutch i can kick it over bt it jumps forward alittle. So we're gonna head to town and get some 10w-30 and run some through it and see if it improves....

its all good now it think it was just a combo of the really heavy weight oil and some coolant getting into the case making them stick together but we got it working now!
