So i need a question or two answered about checking a coil. Ive tested the secondary on my coil with plug/wire/boot on and nothing, ive tested it with nothing on it, still nothing. Im getting no spark whatsoever when i used to get a weak spark. I tested my wife's blaster and i get resistance across the secondary easily and it has a fat blue spark. Does this mean my coil's toast? :shootself:

Also i checked for voltage on the orange/black leads that go to the coil and it's getting plenty of voltage when kicked.

Yup, like i told you earlier. Your coil is done. Same shit happened to mine 2 years ago. Picked up a brand new one from RM on ebay for cheep. no problems what so ever.

In this situation, it is best to unclip the plug wires from the coil and test only the coil. If you still do not get anything from plug lead to plug lead, that is a problem. I will assume your have a decent meter. Please also note that the Clymer manual is wrong for secondary testing and probably the culprit for many unneeded col sales. The secondary tests from wire to wire.

thanks blowit, ill have to retest it tomorrow when i go over to my shop. Kinda weird the service manual is wrong but it is what it is. everything seems to be working fine except the coil so ill see how it goes.
