XxMeltIcexX Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 Does anyone know what the coils resistances should be reading? On Pentons site is says to send in for dyno tuning, but I've heard of guys testing them. Thanks Eric Quote
FireHead Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 Does anyone know what the coils resistances should be reading? On Pentons site is says to send in for dyno tuning, but I've heard of guys testing them. Thanks Eric You can ounly test the primary side of the coil resistance. The chart for what that should be, is on Penton's site somewhere. If it's not a simple problem, you have to send the unit to them..... Quote
hellride96 Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 720-730 ohms is where good coils test. Quote
XxMeltIcexX Posted July 4, 2009 Author Report Posted July 4, 2009 Just thought id let everyone know I called Penton today, you cannot test these coils accurately. He gave me a few pointers and I'm making adjustments, ill keep you all updated. Quote
J-Madd Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 Place them on the ground and beat them repeatedly with a hammer/baseball bat/pipe wrench ...j/k : I've had a terrible time with pvls, even though I still have them on 2 engines. I have some brand new coils that I always test as a reference to go by, but I don't know what they test at, and as you mentioned, Penton says it's not a reliable test. Quote
XxMeltIcexX Posted July 23, 2009 Author Report Posted July 23, 2009 Just to let you all know, just had issues with timing, back to the hill I go  Quote
