right now i have a 310 main, stock pilots, air screws 2.5 out, Toomey Needle 3rd clip. It ran okay at the dunes but bogged alot mid throttle. I have PT Hi Revs, K&N Pods, VF3's, Coolhead 21cc domes, +4 timing. i am at sea level, and i have heard of some people running 320 mains, even 340 mains. are my mains too low? I was thinking they are because my pipes blued alot during my trip. and do i need to drop a clip on the needle?

if the bog is in the mid then its the needle but for jetting you need to work on the mains first then the needle then the pilot. So do some plug chops at WOT to see if you are lean on top... Just remember you will go lean on cold and rich when warm out.

yah it was pretty cold out there no sun at all. but if im bogging is it a lean condition or rich condition

Shouldn't it be the higher the elevation the larger jets you need? or the higher the smaller? im at 5200ft and im running a 320. Im new to the whole Shee thing, some one will chime in!

 

the higher the elevation the thinner the air, and the less fuel you need. so if you jet the shee for 100ft above sea level and then go riding at 5,000ft above sea level - you would need to use smaller jets for less fuel because the air is less dense.

this of course is true only if all other variables stay the same. you still have to consider air temp.

so i pulled my bike out today, threw a set of 340 mains in there and it hauled ass from idle to WOT. its about 75 Degrees out here. no hesitation no bogging no nothing, so im guessing it was the temperature being cold that threw my jetting off. i double checked my needles they have 6 grooves, they are in the third groove from the blunt end.

 

another thing was on my idle screws, i didnt file down the hole all the way on the carbs so my screws werent even touching the slides @ first.
