robert.b.west Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 I noticed my clutch started slipping back in the fall and just thought that it was time to get a new one so I did. I installed it and went to the sand dunes it continued to slip and even get worse so I figured it was a cheap clutch so would get another one. (It was a tusk and I replaced it with a toomey.) It continued to slip so I heard it could be the pressure plates that seemed to fix the problem for a little while but not long. I had taken maybe 20 passes down the drag strip at the dunes before it seemed like it was starting to slip again. I just dont know what to do. I replaced my ez pull lever because it did not seem like I was not getting enough pull out of it I would sit at the line and rev up and it would creep forward but would still not ever fully engage. I will do what ever I need to. Oh I for got to mention 3-10% stiffer springs 3-100% stiffer springs. Sorry for the novel but I would appreciate any advice. Quote
kubitza123 Posted June 26, 2009 Report Posted June 26, 2009 Probably just need to add some weight to the lockup. Most in sand or dirt depending on motor size i think run around 9 grams Quote
robert.b.west Posted June 26, 2009 Author Report Posted June 26, 2009 Probably just need to add some weight to the lockup. Most in sand or dirt depending on motor size i think run around 9 grams I dont have a lockup yet, I was wondering if I should get one? I was looking at the one that fits in the stock cover from hrj. I would just like to learn a little more about them before I get on. How they work what they do kinda stuff. Quote
POORBOY350 Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 wish i could tell you more about them man i know u usully dont need them unless your puttin down a good amount of power. i know that one wont fit under a stock clutch cover(pretty sure). there is one called a slingshot you might should check out couple ppl run them i believe they fit under stock cover also... sorry i cant help man. someone will know. could be a few things. did you soak your new clutches for about 2 hours in fluid before installing them? you check your adjustment and everything? smtn else to think about is most of the time an override tranny goes w/ a lockout. cause if your bike puts down alot of power that lockout will make it a mother to shift! trust me! thats where im at with mine got the lockout but it is so hard to shift it just kills clutch cables man. i'd like to know more about the weight on the lockout...
