Good day every one, im new to the forum. And new to banshees. Thought, not new to 2 strokes .

 

Any who, here is my story. I currently have a 400ex wich moded right out. I finally got tired of it.. I need to move on to something that has more potencial and more power. hehee.. I ride mx track and do alot of access road riding (dirt road / bushish..) I found a 2001 banshee that has just been rebuilt with wiseco pistons new bearings and seals all around in the engine.. Now, the engine is currently out of it becaus the mechanic quit on the build (did not put it back into the frame). So the guy wants 2500 no lower for it. It has yfz a arms front elka (rebuilt) and the old ones, the elkas have been set for 195lb when I weigh 150. The frame has been powdercoted white back in 2004. The front and back bearings are in good condition thought the rear suspencion needs new bushings and a and it also needs a new disk break. The bike also has nerf bars and a full skid plate. I just checked the compression today and its at 115psi (cold). Two more questions when I kicking it over the kick start did not recoil back up is that normal? Finally, the guy said that the 2 bulbs were burnt out. He said that was becaus of over reving. I have never had such a problem. It sounds more to me like a bad regulator. Well, what do you guys think. I want to sell my 400ex and get this banshee and kick some ass. And perhaps in the future sell it and make some money. Good deal? How much would resale be? Depending on the mods & the general condition of the bike, it could be a good deal but it sounds like you have some work to put in. Are you mechanically inclined? If not, you

My kicker is fine recoiles perfect,115psi is bad for a fresh rebuild,if its not kicking rite chances are it wasnt put together rite.The spring isnt in correct.I understand there getting more hard to find,but your buying a bike thats not together #1

 

#2-the motor builder quit on the build(why?)

#3-the builder messes up you just wasted 25hundo

#4-does he have reciepts?who doesnt keep them this day in age

#5-its worth the money to have it checked out,around $250 for tear down and inspection, but if something is wrong or out of spec you will be into it for well over $3000,I dont know how nice it is but you can find sick deals on here,my advise is be patiant

X2. There are a lot of good deals out there right now. I have seen some real nice bikes in perfect running order go for like $2k. I would let that one slide.

IMO, i would pass on this purchase. far better shee's out there w/more mods for less $. just my .02.

You guys got some good points thanks. Well here are the answer to your questions or points.

 

1- Pats for the shees are getting harder 2 finde?

2- The builder was layed off from a shop in this poor economy and the guy with the banshee needed some one to rebuilt it (new top end). So he said fk it do it all.. and payed the guy to rebuilt it for cheep. The guy ended up getting pissed since he asked to little since he realy needed the cash.. He got pissed since he did not ask enough. So he said either you pay me this much more or here it is in its current condition.

3- I actualy offered to do the rest of the build for the guy for 75$ and he said he would be happy if I did it. Thats if I dont buy it. So im pretty sure as far as he knows it should run. Fingers crossed, any thing I can check? The compression might be low for 2 reasons, 1 it was not warm, 2 the engine was not realy mounted so I could not get realy good kicks.. Thought it was 115 each cylinder..

4- Yes he does have the reciepts. He showed me most of the rebuild parts. And will show me the reciepts for all the other parts next time I come.

5- Unfortunatly I live in canada/ Ontario / Sudbury. Where there is not to manny toys :-s. I have been looking around for quite a while and I have not found a deal better then this. Any one live near me .
