T_Shee Posted May 9, 2009 Report Posted May 9, 2009 just had a stock head milled a bit for a little more bottom end. now my comp numbers are 150 on the right and 140 for the left. i was pretty rich before so i leaned my jetting a bit and now throttle response is really crisp, gonna do some chops to make sure im not too lean. anyway i assume i should probably be at least mixing in some 110 with those #'s and +4 timing. do you guys think im ok with mixing 50/50 110 and 94 (sunoco)? when i started it after getting it back together i noticed a ping from the right side (150 psi) so i know i need to do something. if i adjust my timing back to 0 would i be ok on 94 or should i just mix to be safe, or do i need to go complete 110? my elevation is around 800 ft if that matters. also will detonation be more likely to occur when the motor is warm or cold? seemed like after it warmed up a bit it went away. sorry for all the questions and thanks in advance for the help. SAVAGE420 Posted May 9, 2009 Report Posted May 9, 2009 You will be good with 94 pump by itself. I would be starting to be concerned about why there's a 10psi drop on one of the cyls though. I would check the ring gap and see if the rings are starting to wear. Quote
lt1bird Posted May 9, 2009 Report Posted May 9, 2009 Could be that the bike warms up more and runs a bit richer ...You might want to fatten up the main one step and back the timing a tad and see if you hear any... Im kinda in the same boat....Was pinging...at 6K WOT.... Im using race gas now 110....It sure loves the gas but very expensive.... Did make the ping go away...Ill need to turn the timing down around that 6K RPM mark...Im thinking ill end up mixing 50/50 just in case Quote

lt1bird Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 detonation sounds like to pieces of metal rattling against each other.... If it sounds like that dont be fooled into thinking its something vibrating at that RPm Its 99% sure its detonation..... Quote
