A dyna programmable CDI is ok, and has several ignition timing curves, but definitely don't waste money on the non-programmable CDIs.

Ditto, I have a Dyna with the programmer kit and I love it.

It should be the same one. The dyna for his year of bike can be programmed with a special adapter and the pc software that dyna offers. I program them with advance and run a stock stator plate.
