278 Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 You guys that watch car shows on the weekends will know what Im talking about, but they have a tips and tricks part of the show and a money saving tips part. I figured it would be cool to have something like this for Banshees. So this thread is for any kind of cool tips you guys want to share about your Banshee and any kind of money saving tips and post pics of what you've done! Here's mine: I painted my pipes black with a high temp paint from dupli-colr a little while back and made a post about it. Well I noticed most guys on here have chrome or black pipes so I wanted to re-do them.... I had a buddy sand plast them... This gave it almost a silver metallic look. So I decided I wanted to try a new high temp. paint to paint the T5 sign on the side black... I also used a label printer and printed out my last name then cut out the letters and stuck it on the pipe as a stencil. After this I taped off the whole pipe and sprayed on the black. Well the stuff I used you have to bake 3 times for 30 minutes and progressively getting hotter. The final temp. is 600F degrees, well I was doing this in downstairs oven and it only goes to 550F degrees, so I did it at that temp instead. Well I found that due to the heat the high temp of the final bake causes the pipes changed color to a dark gray that changes the color a little depending on the light... So I used a high temp. clear coat on them, when I did this the color changed even more... FInal product was a grey that looks a little metallic up close and changes to golden brown in different light. Shitty pics, but here ya' go: Quote
sheerider1026 Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 heres one.. on your shift star, you can easily mod yours yourself.. then you can take the spring for the arm (the arm with the roller), and grind it down some around the outside, makes the spring a litter thinner, but a little weaker also.. i cut about 40% off.. it makes shifting a dream.. for the shift star, you can cut in on a bench grinder in about 5 minutes.. . just take your time.. its easy to do.. Shitty pics, but here ya' go: not being a dick ... or saying your wrong.. i give my pipes a quick wirewheel and then hit it with 3-4 thin coats of rusto(BBQ) spray paint.. then over the black high heat paint i use regular red and do my t-5 logo..... i never bake it or anything.... and it holds up fine for me .... i re-did it once in 3 years i own the bike, making a total of 2 times... i spilled brake fluid on it once and just touched it up while on the bike.. looks great.. and i got my "rust bucket" toomeys for free... But as far as baking I know you dont have to, but I do.... I just thought I'd share the fact that Factory finish Toomey's are like $100 cheaper than chrome or they were when I bought mine brand new and if you just bake them in the oven without painting them just bake the straight metal it comes out with a cool appearance.... If any ones got any cool tips though post them thats what this thread is about Quote
