bigdaddy69 Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 I will be putting my motor together next weekend Its going to be stock cyl 4 mil drag port 1-5 override, slingshot lockup, stock ported reeds. SB CPI OOF Going to be running 35 PWK's on alky. Will be my first experience with alky so I just want a base line where to start. As of now they have 155 mains 40 pilots and CEL needel. They of course have powerjets. My elevation is around 3000-3200 feet temps are in the 40-70 range right now. Quote
sheefreak Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 I am going to say .116 mains is where you will end up, but I would start w/120's. Drill the dumps to .120 as well and start w/55 pilot and airscrew closed down to 1 turn out. Opend the PJ all the way up. You should be rich top and bottom. I would run the clip in the middle on the needle. You can lean it from there. I ran a set of 39 PWK's on a stock cyl 4 mill last year and ran .120's and 52 pilots. Needle leaned all the way to second from top notch. Once I finally got it tuned pretty well I ended up w/PJ's almost closed down(coulda went smaller main) and air screws only half turn out(coulda used bigger pilots). Ran great, and plugs were showing just about perfect. Watch them plugs!!! Quote
J-Madd Posted February 10, 2009 Report Posted February 10, 2009 ^^^^sounds a like a good starting point. Don't forget to get the EGN needles and run the correct plugs gapped 0.018''. As he said always keep an eye on the plugs!! And feel the transfers and pipes for the proper amount of heat. Quote
