You can do it your self the only special tool you will need is a flywheel puller. There is a couple clips that go around the bearings be sure to put them back in and all the bolts on top and bottom of your cases are numbered and you need to tighten them in order a little bit at a time, just keep going over them till they are tight, i normally go over them 3-4 times. If you don't have a clymers manual you should invest in one, it will walk you through everything.

You shouldn't have to split the cases to replace a wrist pin unless the rod is messed up too.

i think its called a wrist min, its the needle bearing at the bottom part of the connecting rod, kinda of like the one where the piston is.

Sounds like a rod bearing went out, it would be better to just replace the crank, after you buy the parts ship it to have it fixed and trued back up your gonna be out almost as much as a new crank. If you want a used one pm me i have one.

 

The wrist pin the the pin that goes through the piston.
