yamaha11 Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 do you have to run a pump with alky. i want to put 39mm pwk alky carbs on my 421 and the guy said he ran a pump can they be ran with out one or do you have to have one. thanks im new to alky Quote
wesw Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 alky you need plenty of fuel cause you will be burning lot of it . so either get a pump to keep the bowls full or bigger bowls to hold more fuel or both but would be an overkill if you do short drag races you could get away with bowls only and remove a float. dajogejr Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 If these carbs are setup to run a pump, it would be in your best interest to run a pump... The needle and seat are much smaller on pumper carbs because they use the fuel pump pressure, not gravity, to fill them. While bigger bowls will help, they might not fill fast enough...especially on longer runs. If you have a picture, we can probably tell you if they're gravity or pumper carbs.... Quote
