Sandfrk33 Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 Do I need to run 100+ octane to get the full benefits of advancing the timing? I am running a hemi head with 21 domes, v-force reeds, cylinders are bored to 65 mil, and it was ported. Thanks Quote
Snopczynski Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 Probably not. Just need 50/50 if you need any higher octane at all. 21cc with a raised exhaust port will probably put you around 145-155 psi. Quote
98_shee Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 You should be ok on pump gas with your timing set at +4. Welcome to the HQ  Quote
05.Banshee.SE Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 You should be ok on pump gas with your timing set at +4. Welcome to the HQ  x2. If you want to run a higher octane fuel, you can raise your compression by getting smaller domes. (Lower number means higher compression...go to the NOSS Machine site, they have a chart for Dome Sizes vs. Elevation, and what the compression outcome is.) 0-160 PSI = 93 160+ = Race fuel (To be safe you might want to cut off at 155 psi) Any detonation requires a bump up in octane, or a lowering of your compression. Definately think about the cost though. For me, it's not worth it and I'll stay on pump fuel. Quote
