Dick Wheels Posted October 25, 2008 Report Posted October 25, 2008 As a few of you know I decided to switch to a 2 into 1 intake setup in the beginning of summer and dump the 34 pj's that were on the bike. For the last few months I have been battling trying to get it to run right. I tried 5 different needles and no matter what I did it was just way to lean at mid throttle to the point of poping and back firing and wouldn't rev. I then decided to ditch the single carb and go back to stock duals and jet them. It ran much better but still wasn't right. Anyways I only got this shee in January and don't know anything about it besides it had Duncan Racing stickers all over it and the 34's that were on it, DG pipes and a Vito's hemi head. So after all this I let it sit and ran my LT250r. I finally decided it was time to try and get the shee running again the other day and decided to do a compression test on it since i haven't before and it had 170 across the board. I then pulled the stator cover and to my surprise found a adjustable plate with some lose bolts and set at +8. I cleaned everything up under there and and tightened the bolts up and set it back to +4 and WALA... It runs like a champ. All this BS because I knew nothing about the bike and neither did the previous owner. I fired it up, took it for a ride and it really flies but needed more carb. I ditched the stockers and went back to my 2 into 1 with a new 35pwk and the bike is nasty now. Looking threw the intakes it has some porting but is unknown and also appears to have some domed pistons in it, bore unknown. I just wanted to thank snop and everyone else who helped me along with this in the past. Shame is basically winter here and I haven't been able to ride it yet. BTW snop your jetting advise was practically spot on...you da man! Quote
sinisterboo Posted October 25, 2008 Report Posted October 25, 2008 ALL banshee pistons are domed, just FYI. Quote
Snopczynski Posted October 25, 2008 Report Posted October 25, 2008 Good to hear its running well. Quote
RollinRhino Posted October 25, 2008 Report Posted October 25, 2008 I got an adjustable plate on my shee. In fact it is the only real mod done to the engine and +4 is about as far as I can take mine. What a difference that makes. Good to hear you got it figured out. Quote

I'm glad I got it running to and its amazing. My first shee to. Got it in January in pieces, put it back together and have spent all summer long fugging with the jetting and carbs and haven't been able to ride it yet. If only I or the previous owner knew it had that plate on there i could have turned it back to +4 at the beginning of summer and avoided this whole "jetting/Carb" headache. Quote
