davesgarage Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 I have a 2001 banshee with a 35mm cv carb kit installed. the exhaust on the left blows hot air but the right is much cooler. both cylinders have spark, the compression on both is around 120 by the 3rd kick, and there is only 1 carb. it seems to run ok, but I dont think it has the power that it should. the exhaust is stock for now please let me know what you think thanks dave Quote
Paddleboy Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 only one carb as a 2 into 1 set up or only one carb as one is missing? haha Quote
davesgarage Posted October 14, 2008 Author Report Posted October 14, 2008 it is the trinity 35mm cv 2 into 1 carb kit Quote
GrMeyer Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 umm did you do a compression test with warm engine or a cold engine? and did you turn off the gas and hold the throttle open when you kicked it over? And 120 seems like its starting to need in a new top end. And put some pipes on that thing and open it up. Quote
davesgarage Posted October 14, 2008 Author Report Posted October 14, 2008 (edited) I STARTED THE ENGINE AND RAN IT FOR A MINUTE OR TWO. I THEN CHECKED THE COMPRESSION. THE LEFT CAME TO BE 120PSI AND THE RIGHT AROUND 110 OR SO. I DID TURN THE GAS OFF AND HOLD THE THROTTLE WIDE OPEN. IT MAY NEED AN OVERHAUL BECAUSE THIS WHEELER IS AN 01 AND NEVER BEEN TOUCHED EXCEPT FOR THE 2 INTO 1 CARB KIT WHICH I INSTALLED A FEW DAYS AGO. Edited October 14, 2008 by davesgarage Quote
indiana banshee Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 depending on your elevation that doesnt sound bad. Mine is at the same as yours and it runs strong. I'm in indiana not much elevation. Quote
278 Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 Yeah depending on elevation you should be ok I had 114 and 116 and was fine, but im like 200 feet above sea level. As far as the exhaust heat though, check to make sure dont have anyair leaks, such as in the intake boots or in the gaskets and seals around the carb and reeds. You could be running lean on one side due to an air leak which sooner or later could cause you internal problems Quote
