override on asphalt

i am getting to the point where my clutch and tranny are really irritating when i shift down the track. i have a 1-5 override from metal tech and would really like to put it in my 1/4 mile asphalt bike. is running that tranny on asphaly gonna break it easily? i know how to use an override and have used them in my sand bikes. i have never used or known anyone to use them on asphalt and im just afraid of it breaking the dogs off the gears. any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated before i tear the cases apart and drop it it.
