278 Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 Ok guys, so I have an on going shee project that is still in its early stages, however it has come time to do the engine machine work. I am trying to build a bad-@$$ trail ride that I can also tackle some big hills and occasionally take down a few YFZ's I already ordered pistons so myquestion is 1) is going with a 4 mil. and having the extra expense of bigger carbs, worth the money, 2) if so can I use my standard bore wiseco pro-lites on the 4 mil. or will i have to get new pistons Quote
Paddleboy Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 if you are going to be riding mostly trails then i would stay away from a 4 mil. not that its bad but it wouldnt be worth the money because you couldnt really open it up. get some pipes and a aggressive trail port with the money saved. you should be able to beat 450's with that mod easily. Onesickcrewcab Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 Whats done to your bike already? Best bang for the buck is porting along with good pipes. Eventually you should get some kind of cool head, advance your timing some, and make sure its tuned correctly. With a good port job, and pipes you should be able to take down stock 450s and all the hills you want. Quote
278 Posted September 6, 2008 Author Report Posted September 6, 2008 well nothin yet just the frame painted black but its apart in my shop and im doing it step by step, the list of mods that will be on it is- Aggressive trail port, NOSS head with 20cc domes, Wiseco pro-lites, +4 timing, Toomey T-5's with some custom silencers, open air box (cuz I ride alot of muddy trails), TORS removed, new clutch, and a bunch of suspension and bling goodies, but thanks guys that answered my question Quote
Onesickcrewcab Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 Should RIP pretty good with all that. Let us know when you get it done. Quote
