hey pplz, i just bout a new pair of head lights from walmart. the little chrome round ones. they are a 12 volt/50watts. i know that the stock stator wont keep them on nice and bright, and i really dont want to buy a 200 watt stator. i was just wondering if i can put in a 12 volt rechargeable battery, and make something like this.

Stock Stator > 12 Volt Regulator > 12 Volt Rechargeable Battery > Head Lights

i want the 12 Volt Battery to be connected to the stator and regulator to keep the battery charged while riding. the battery is use just to keep the lights bright.

is this a good idea?

please post all info

thankz

I've got an MSD ignition, and it has it's own battery, that charges off of the stator. The charging circuit plugs into the wire going to the voltage regulator, and then the wire continues on to the stock voltage regulator. I'm not sure if the battery would charge at all, when the lights were on, but it should charge okay, when the lights aren't on. Maybe someone will a little more electrical expertise should chime in.
