  1. Could be a bad choke circuit. Have you taken it out for a hard ride? When it comes back to idle are the pipes the same temp? The motor will do what you are saying after it sits and has a cold start up. You have to ride the bike and blow it out. They are 2 strokes and always tend to load up at idle.

  2. whats your take on the Vitos block Kevin?

Colby, the Vito's block is an old design that is a bit heavier than today’s cylinders but it puts out good numbers and this thing has hardly any hours on it. It is everything you need to put it on and go! It makes real good power for what it is. That is a really good price for that whole kit. Best deal I have going in the used section right now.

  3. ya that sounds easy enough, so i used to work at a cnc machine shop and although they don't do anything with engines, i figured I could ask them to shave the head some as long as its as easy as just taking some material off of the seal surface??, is that all it is and if so how much is a safe amount to take off??

Take off thirty thousandths from the gasket mating surface. If you want some real fun power gains send it in to me for a port job. Best bang for the buck you can buy for it.

  4. I'm not going to read all of this but it looks like we need some damage control here. The maker of the cranks with the copper L29 color rods wants to put out a good strong product. He makes many different sizes and styles with a few different rods. He wants customers happy and I want my customers happy. If you have a crank you bought from me with the L29 copper rod and the rod broke call me and I will tell you what I can do for you. Even if you didnt buy it from me give me a ring. If the phone is busy shoot me an email. I’m working with the maker of the crank to make sure the quality and longevity is to your satisfaction.

  5. Congratulations Curry Dufrene on your Pro Sand Drags class win. I know you put a lot of work in and learned a hell of a lot more on the journey. Curry ran a 421 cub ported with custom cut domes and alky carbs setup by HJR.

Curry's first crack at building the 421 cub ended up sticking the rings. After figuring out what went wrong the second time out got him a class win.

  6. well ill wait till i get it all set up on my stockers first. i might see if i can do some more supporting mods, but the 28mm carbs are brand new and i really wouldnt want to take such a hit on the price. but ill talk to kevin and see what he thinks would be the best supporting mods for it...

also, its crazy when i took the lid off the airbox, it needed 330 main jets, last (rich) clip on the needle, 27.5 pilot jets and 2 turns out..... kevin said with the porting it needs 330 main jets, 25 pilots, and 2-3 turns out on the air screw.... i thought porting would require more fuel?

The stock carbs will more than support the work. They will do 65hp all day long. If you have 28mm carbs lying around then use them but I personally wouldn’t spend the money on them new if I had good stock carbs.

Jet the stock carbs 330 main, stock needle mid clip, 25 pilots will work most of the time with a half turn out on the air screw, if not use 27.5 at 1 1/2 out on the air screw. This will get you in the game. Fine tune it to your liking from that point.

If you are running 370 mains on the stock carbs with my port work you are pig rich or have an air leak.
