  1. I tend to leave the size alone,but i usually chamfer the ports to create a smooth transition between the windows and pistons.It can be done with a few handfiles and takes about 20-30 minutes..Not sure if the gains are substantial but it should make for a better flow.

     

    here is a rough diagram,you can see how the piston ports are not opened up,they are just blended to the intake windows.

  6. Again,crossover tubes are do exactly what they were designed for.Boost bottles will do the same for the weak minded,definitely not jedi status.

     

     

    Boost bottles are not surge tanks,their a cleverly thought out gimmick.For 25 bucks you can get a +4 degree key,unless your just looking for some bling,bling,then you've probably already wasted money on useless blings.

Sometimes the carbs have to by jetted differently.  I don't know why, but I know I am not the only one that has had to do this.  I run the same mains in both carbs, but I have my needles set on different clips and I adjust my air screws separately.  If changing plugs and re-syncing the carbs doesn't fix your problem, I suggest moving the needle clip on the side that isn't firing properly.

    Never imagined someone would attempt that.With the exception of the needle or needle valve being severly worn down,I could not understand why you'd have to do that.Maybe with one new carb and one thats been in service since the inception of carburation it could be possible.

     

    Check your needle clip,check your carb sync and make sure your idle height is dam near the same for both slides.Then adjust air screws the same and fire it up with good plugs

     

    Providing the compression is close on each side ,the reeds are in good shape,and the crank seals are good.You should have 2 cylinders firing almost identically.That is,if its not electrical

  8. VF2's work damn well but they do not hold up on High Revvers. Not only do the screws back out, the reeds shatter but the cases deform as well. Some suppliers still have them in stock...steer clear and go with 3's.....Jim

    I strongly disagree.I have been running them in my 01' since it was new.I also run PC pipes and really use the over revv the pipes have to offer.I get about 25 hrs out of a set of reeds from my v-force.My rad valve banshee gets about the same.The cases deform from combination of over tightend /heat.I have never experienced a cracked or shattered reed petal.

  9. I like Wellsville,but a few of my riding budz don't.Its one of my all time favorites.

     

    Oak hill is down by the WNF Telegraph trailhead.Its also called Firebrick.

    Probably the only other place I'd rank in front of Wellsville.Its an old mining complex on about 20,000 acres.Alot like wellsville but alot more to offer.

     

    Theres anywhere between 300-1000 people out there on a sunday.

  10. I've had mine since 02'.Changed out the reed petals twice and never had a problem with screws coming loose or breaking reed petals.

     

    Were you running spacers?Did you set the reed tension on low?Did you clean the cages before you reassembled them(loctite will not set if theres oil or fuel film present.)Could be installer error.

    The manuel specs for stock pistons is .002-.0025.With any cast piston,you do not want to exceed about .003.Cast pistons have a experience minimal expansion.Any more than .003-.0035 and your pistons will wear out rapidly.

  13. I just rejetted and at WOT and 1/8 throttle I get a nice tan brown plug but meantime it smokes out the silencers and also has alot of oil coming out. How can the plugs be perfect but the silencers still smoke and drip oil?????????????? Also I am using a twist throttle and removed the TORS , so how do I adjust the idle now. It starts ok if I give it some throttle but when I let go it will stall out.

    Could be your needle,a little too rich in the mids will load up your pipes with oil.Alot of quads I see out there are jetted like this.Runs good on very bottom, rough in the mid and cleans out well on top.
