They gave me CEL needles I think I’ll just run then middle clip for now. I put 45 pilots and 165 mains in sure there gonna be to Rich since when I jet it it’s going to be 3000 feet I stead of where I’m located at 300 ft
-
Also forgot to ask what float height to run them at?
-
I’m building a new motor:
t5’s
4mm long rod crank
68mm bore
hjr mx hardcore port w/ case match
vforce 4 reeds
cool head 24cc milled domes Since I’m trying to run pump gas
and 36mm pwk air strikers
3000ft
was wondering what Jets I need to run just to be in the ball park Im used to the mikuni jet sizes The only needles I have are what is stock in the carbs and also what bp racing supplied me with Im sure those needles are fine all the gave me was two differnt main Jets and no pilots (and they call that a jet kit) what Jets should I order thanks in advancealso, if I Plan to swap out the domes and run race gas would that change my jetting ?

Alright so my 97 shee just got dune ported by redline, I put it all back together did a leak down fixed a minor leak around the boot and when I did the compression test the cylinders only kicked out 120 and I believe it’s supposed to be somewhere around 150. I have
21cc domes
toomey t5’s
300 ft Above sea level
no air box
redline racing dune port and fresh hone

Just got the juggs in about three days ago, yesterday I put everything back together I had already sealed up the cases since the welded crank got here a while ago. Got it all leaked down (had some minor leaks from both intakes used yamabond and got them sealed up)
now I need some help with the jetting
300 ft
75 degrees
Toomey t5’s
pods
redline dune port
21cc domes
+4 timing
Stock carb, Jets I have in now are 320 main, 27.5 pilot, toomey needles at 2nd clip from pointed end. Feels boggy at the low end. Hits band super hard tho but takes time to build up in rpm. What should I change for that bottom end slugg pilots or needle clip position. Also should I plug chop that main to make sure it’s perfect first or try to figure out the bottom end bog?

I sent my cylinders to redline they got the package but I rember when I spoke on the phone with them they said that they’re really backed up right now since everyone is working on there stuff right now with the Rona going on with that being said not sure who’s doing the cylinders yet And my crank is being trued and welded by Kevin Herr since he’s closer to home. When cracking the cases I found that one of the plates In the clutch stack was showing a lot of wear so I ordered the driveline clutch kit my basket and inner hub had no signs of pitting everything else looked pretty good with my untrained eye haha but I also ordered a clymers just to go through it all since I’m already here.

By time you're done fixing things, doing it twice, you could of had cam build you a 4mm. The questions you ask, tell us you're clueless.
Your right I’m young and dumb but I gotta learn, we all start somewhere, that’s why I’m always thanking u guys this is my learning process

Woulda been best off sending complete engine to him. Unbox when finish, install, done.
Yeah but all that extra labor for shit I can do we’re in quarantine so I got more time then ever. I have a buddy who is a pretty awesome welder and isn’t welding a crank just a couple tig welds ? Ima see how simple it is and if not I’ll just ship it out I already got to removing the engine now it’s me and south Texas for the next hour or so haha

Porting, compression, and timing, the only thing to be really concerned about is the crank. most people will have the crank welded so you dont have to worry about the added stress spreading it causing a failure.
Wish I would have known that before I guess ima tear down the bottom end and ship it out.
-
With the extra little power, what can I expect to go out ? If there anything I should be concerned about ?
-
Yeah I talked to a builder didn’t catch his name but when I send my cyclinders I’ll be sure to ask for him thanks for your help

Chariot type are one piece, thus less oring and fuzzle.

So there better ? They cost less

How are those chariot cool heads then, I see there cheaper then like the pro design, says they use the same domes tho.
-
I'm going with redline, I can still use the stock head, right?

30 pilot, 320 main to start, put the clip on the needle closest to the tip.
should be super rich with that, Buy 27.5 pilot, 270-340 mains, and a toomey needle (or equivalent) Oh and 2 or 3 set of bowl gaskets and the allen cap screw bowl fastener sets (you will thank me later)
Oh and buy 20-30 plugs so you can do plug chops after every tuning change to verify where it is at.
My 98 had a dune port with 21cc domed cool head, vf2 reeds, fmf pipes, dyna ignition, stock timing and stock tors deleted carbs. In glamis it liked 27.5 pilots and 280 mains.
Wifes 96 is stock port, cool head with 21 cc domes, boysen reeds, toomey piped, stock carbs and likes 27.5 pilot and 270 mains....
I spent so much money on plugs I would have though I had stock in NGK...
each bike is different.
Yeah as of now I have from 240-350 mains and 25-30 pilots Just got My Toomey needles bout a month ago But I do need to order those bowl screws ur right there a pain always striping And yeah I need more spark plugs only have about 6 sets left I JUST got the jetting right but I want a little more power
were u running an air box on those two bikes? Jetting sounded lean to me. My bike has always liked the leaner side of things people say got 290-300 and shee like 280 main 25 pilot and second to leanest needle setting plug chops come out perfect tho. Thanks man that’s a lotta of information that’s gunna help me now I just gatta choose between FAST, Her juggs or redline -

Dune port and keep stock carbs or get 28mm carbs vs the 34mm carbs.
Thanks, if I did plan on keeping the stock carbs do u know what Jets I would have to move up too ? Or would 28’s just give me that much more top end ?
-
Stock head but I was planning on getting a cool head anyways Right now stock carbs but I also have a set of 34mm flat slides those are probably to big Based off the information you guys are giving me I would lean more towards a play port. Because I do more trails and messing around but when people are running drags I like to hop in the mix. What would u guys suggest is best for my riding style ?
-
Hey guys I was looking to get a port job on my 97 shee What would be the best type of port in terms of power for stock bore and crank? Also where/who could I get it done from?
Tooney t5’s
Pods
+4 timing
-
I leaned out the needle completely and it smoothed out a bit. But it still hesitates a little at about 3/8 throttle a little more then a quarter. Takes a bit to build up should I pop in that 290 ?
-
I just leaned it out to the second clip from blunt end and it ran better but it feels like it runs super rich with these needles. Should I go down a main to 290 and try again from middle clip ?
Looking for stock strait frame
