  1. just bought another banshee, when i first got it the boy said it was on a new rebuild, but who ever fully trust someone without documents. Anyways got it home the petcock needed a new seal and the left carb poured fuel so i fixed those problems..He was running a set of fmf exhaust, k&n with no lid, cool head with 19cc domes, boost bottle and reed spacers with stock cage and new reeds...While cleaning both carbs i noticed it was 280 main and 25 pilot, i had a set of 300's and 27.5's that i put it. Started it up and let it set at idle to warm up and when for a quick trip maybe 1000 foot when i got it back i was feeling around on the engine doing a walk around and the left exhaust gets smoking hot like its running lean while the right exhaust i can hold onto, also the left silencer feels like its pushing more compression out than the right but when the compression is checked with a tester from the head both cylinders are at 148...Has anyone experienced anything like this also the right exhaust pushes more smoke than the left, im lost on where to start since everything is sync'd together at the same settings for fuel/air.. my elevation ranges from 700-1000ft with temps from 70-90
  2. yea simple things are easy to look over, i say he just got fed up with it and over looked it looking for a bigger problem
  3. Disregard this post. Had time to take it apart tonight and come to find out the man owning the bike needs glasses. Running 2 different pilots a 25 and a 32.5.
  4. No i dont have a shop i just piddle on a few bikes after work...the guy that it belongs to changed the jetting around thinking it was getting too much fuel so put in smaller jets...it has bigger needles in it and i think he was trying to make up for that but as soon as i get home and have a chance to pull the carbs off i will know jet sizes...yes i know that doesnt make sense to build a 4 mil with 795's and try to go back to "close" factory jetting as he called it
  5. Had a man drop his shee off last night, it starts and idles fine but falls on its face after hitting power band for maybe 50 feet. From what he has told me its close to factory jetting after he has changed some sizes because of the poor running from his first settings. When he bought the shee it ran perfect then he done a top end with wiseco 795m06600 pistons, it has a 4 mil crank, pods, t6, +4 timing, and boost bottle...Also seems to be getting really hot after a short ride maybe 1000 feet and when you barely put any tension what so ever on the thumb throttle you can hear the left carb sucking air really hard...Our elevation is 853 feet above seal level and temp is averaging 80-85. Has anyone experienced any of these symptoms or have a solution to getting it back running like it should I know ill be buying jets and replacing them for his mods but need pointed in the right direction.
  6. I got it started...don't know what the problem was but i took the stator back off, put the timing back to +4 installed everything, took the carbs off gutted them and cleaned everything fired first kick...dont know what the problem was but happy it started
  7. yea when i rebuilt the carbs i replaced all hoses...ill be able to tell more about it tonight when i start working on it again that way i can trouble shoot some more things...does the pistons need to be at a certain position when installing an adjustable timing plate, like most engine will say top dead center does this also apply to a banshee
  8. both deleted
  9. Eastern Kentucky
  10. Wont start, ran about 2-3 weeks ago, put fresh crankcase oil, fuel, redone both carbs 3 times, checked for stuck float, checked reeds, getting strong blue spark, thought it was the flywheel tested and ohmed it, redone the wiring from flywheel to cdi box, by passed the key switch even bought a new one to try, getting around 150-160 psi....when kicking over itll push small amount of smoke through both exhaust and the right carb will leak fuel still..tried kicking with the fuel on and off still nothing wont even try to fire even tried pull starting wont do anything but bog really hard if you touch throttle and die as soon as you let off

    2006, need kill/light switch
  12. 2006 banshee, need kill/light switch Also looking for some reading comprehension books on tape.
  13. yea i called vitos performance and they was no help on telling me about the whole super stock piston of theirs so i went with a .040 wiseco instead, but yes the cylinders are ported. and i know the silencers are holding me back i just got it a couple weeks ago and it needed a rebuild in the worst way but silencers are the next thing on my list
  14. 06 banshee, had the cylinders drag ported, k and n filter, fmf gold series exhaust, stock silencer, boyesen carbon fiber reeds, head was decked .010, and im buying the vito forged super stock pistons .040 over which vitos "basically ported the piston instead of the cylinders, the top of the piston on the exhaust side has an angle cut to let the exhaust escape sooner.(the same thing can be achieved if you raised the exhaust port with a porting tool) The intake windows are raised for a longer intake duration"...the elevation where i live ranges from 785 to 1640 above sea level elevation..just needing to know the best jetting set up any information is appreciated.
  15. do you still have the top end very interested, and where are you located...like to buy asap
  16. Thanks man that gives me a good starting point
  17. had to wait till i could get to a computer...anyway 1) What type of aftermarket exhaust do you have? t5 2) What type of airfilter do you have? dual k&n 3) Are you a)running a stock airbox with lid stock airbox with NO lid c) Stock airbox with vents d) no airbox at all no air box 4) What is your elevation? (If you don't know, go here: http://www.topozone.com ) 800ft 5) What size pilot jets are you using? 6) What size main jets are you using? 7) What temperature is your Banshee jetted for? 75-80 8) Do you have a port job? no 9) What kind of carbs? stock 10) What size carbs? stock
  18. Thanks man
  19. I have a 98 with t5 pipes, dual k and n with no box, bored .010 over, stock carbs....the man I got it from wont tell me anything about it and I'm finding out and repairing as I go...what would be the best jets to go with for this set up?
  20. It had a blown head gasket and antifreeze in the left cylinder I tore it down last night... How do you check tension on the power bands by the way.
  21. I just traded for a banshee so I'm new, but the night I traded it started and ran perfect. The next day I go to start it and the right sides smokes and the left doesn't and the powerbands will not kick in plus when you shift into fifth and sixth gears it stops pulling.
